We didn't have pig rails set up for the babies yet, so my husband took some measurements and we were hoping to get them put in before she had any babies. While my husband went to gather materials, I stayed in the stall with Baby. Before my husband could get back, she popped out her first baby with me in there with her.
So, I told my husband not to disturb her, and we decided just to stay with her and keep a check that she didn't sit on any of the babies. The first 4 babies went pretty fast. The last one took about an hour. She ended up having 5 babies.
We put a light up in the stall, and I told my husband that if she gets up to go eat and drink, then I was going to try and bring them all in the house since we never got the pig rails up. Well, she got up, and I was able to bring them all in the house so I can keep an eye on them. So far, she has been an excellent mother! She takes special care not to sit on them. She goes out to potty, then comes back in with them. I got a litterbox for the babies, and I'm trying to put them in it as I catch them trying to potty. I used toilet tissue to clean up their pee, then put the tissue in the box so they could smell it. So far, they are doing good for only being a day old....LoL
Here they are just laying around suckling after I got them all in the house. So stinking cute! Pigs are born with their eyes open and with teeth!
Baby has mud on her hooves, but there was no way I wanted to disturb her after just having babies. We'll get her good and cleaned up once she recoups some!
